Marco Nicola Messina
I am Marco. Italian, solo founder, one person and no team. I build software, run a few small consumer brands, and trade. I do all of it from wherever I am living that month, which right now is Ao Nang, in Thailand.
The short version of how I got here
I grew up in Barletta, a small city in the south of Italy. Shy kid, far too much time on the computer, deep into videogames. I studied to be a nurse and went to work in hospitals in Oxford and then London. The travelling is what broke something open. I realized I did not want to spend twelve hours a day inside a hospital for the rest of my life. I wanted to move.
So I started trading. I found ICT, went all in, quit nursing, and got back to Barletta right as Covid arrived. Those were three dark years. No job, no money, my whole life poured into learning the markets, and losing money while I learned. When I finally saved a little, I flew to Tenerife. After all that dark it felt like paradise, and that is where I actually became a nomad. I have been moving ever since.
What I build
- Shopify and DTC brands. A few small consumer brands run solo, end to end: Lestea, Frichien, and Chaufmain. Sourcing, store, copy, ads, fulfillment.
- AI agents on Claude. Real products and internal tools built with Claude agents that do actual work, not demos. Honestly, most of what I can do now I can only do because of AI.
- Algorithmic and prop-firm trading. Systematic strategies, prop-firm challenges, and the honest math behind them. Wins and blown accounts included.
- Programmatic SEO and GEO. Content systems and AI-citation experiments: dateread, geo-rank, tgsignals. This diary is itself one of those experiments.
How I work
I look for cashflow. Until I am where I want to be, the job is simple: try a lot of things, learn fast, keep what works, drop the rest. I am not a planner or a big-theory guy. I ship, I watch what happens, I adjust. A friend I met in Tenerife, Maxime, taught me most of what I know about ecommerce and SEO. The rest I paid for in failed attempts.
Why this site exists
My parents and most of my friends do not really understand what I do. It is hard to explain, so I get it. One day I would like them to look at all of this and just say: ok, Marco figured it out. This diary is part of that. Every entry is a real thing I did, written so it is also useful to someone searching for the same problem. My own name has basically zero search volume, so the writing has to earn its readers on its own. That suits me fine.
